Zane Abola is a practicing pediatric surgeon working at the Children's Clinical University Hospital in Riga, Latvia. Also, Z. Abola is an associate professor and head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Riga Stradins University, Riga, Latvia. She has learned and gained experience at Trieste Burlo Garofolo Children's Hospital, Italy, also underwent internship at Leeds NHS Hospital, UK, gained experience at Seattle Children's Hospital, USA in the Department of pediatric Surgery.
In her daily work, Zane Abola focuses and specializes in newborn surgery, minimally invasive abdominal and thoracic surgery, as well as oncosurgery. She is skilled in pediatric POCUS ultrasound.
Dr. Abola is a participant of various research projects, author and co-author of publications, defended her doctoral thesis "Morphofunctional studies of esophageal atresia". She has been a member of European Pediatric Surgical Association (EUPSA) since the beginning of her career as a pediatric surgeon. Dr. Ābola is a member of the Executive Board of UEMS Section of Pediatric surgery, president of the Latvian Association of Pediatric Surgeons.
