About me
Assistant Professor Ilze Apine is the Head Pediatric Radiologist at the Children’s Clinical University Hospital in Riga, Latvia. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Riga Stradins’ University, Latvia. Subsequently, she obtained a Master of Science degree in Radiation Biology at the University of London and defended her PhD thesis in 2020, titled: “Magnetic Resonance Enterography in the Diagnosis of Crohn’s Disease Using Diffusion-Weighted Imaging with Background Body Signal Suppression (DWIBS) Sequence.”
Her main areas of expertise include pediatric abdominal radiology, specifically radiological diagnostics of the abdominal cavity and pelvis (x-ray diagnostics, ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging), as well as radiation protection in pediatrics. She is passionate about educating of radiologists, residents and students in pediatric radiology.
